Frank Welkl is a senior perfumer at Firmenich with over 20 years of experience in the perfume industry. Born and raised in Germany, Frank has always been drawn to fragrances and had a sensitive sense of smell from an early age. He remembers the smells of the country yard and the fresh rain on his uncle's farm, which left an indelible impression on him. After spending his formative years in France and the Netherlands, Frank's interest in fragrances deepened. He recalls the rich, warm chypre fragrances his mother wore in Paris, as well as the bold and daring fragrances of the 80s. It was then that Frank started wearing perfume and thinking about a career in perfumery.
Franck developed his passion for fragrances while studying at the prestigious ISIPCA in France, where he created his first fragrance based on tiare flowers - a tribute to his Tahitian wife and marked the beginning of his journey as a perfumer.
As a modern adventurer, Frank is always looking for new experiences and gets inspiration from trips to French Polynesia. He describes the air on the islands as "filled with the colors and scents of nature in its purest form." For Frank, the natural beauty and richness of French Polynesia is an endless source of inspiration.
Frank is a quiet but charismatic man who believes in creating fragrances that resonate with your soul. He has a deep understanding of the emotional power of fragrance and strives to create fragrances that evoke a deep emotional connection. "My goal," he says, "is to create fragrances that evoke pure, unadulterated joy."
Frank's fragrances are very popular, including the popular Santal 33 by Le Labo and Covet by Sarah Jessica Parker. He has also created fragrances for prestigious brands such as Guerlain, Dolce & Gabbana and Hugo Boss, among others.
